The Portable Amstrad PPC512

Having a fully working and truly portable IBM PC compatible computer back in 1988 was a truly exotic idea. Having one that was remotely affordable too was simply outrageous and that's why Amstrad must have been incredibly proud of its PPC512 Portable Computer. Built around NEC's 8MHz V30 CPU, sporting a LCD CGA/MDA screen, 512kb of RAM, a disk drive and a full-sized keyboard, the PPC512 was indeed a proper PC. One that looked very nice too.

To own it, you can bid on this Amstrad PPC512 auction on eBay for a fully working machine. The PC comes with manuals, power supply, a couple disks and a carry case. Seller ships to most places worldwide.

The NES Power Glove

As far as incredibly ambitious --almost magical-- controllers go, nobody could ever fault the infamous PowerGlove by Mattel for the Nintendo Entertainment System. This was a suitably futuristic glove, a high-tech gadget that should have cost thousands of dollars and it would allow you to control your NES games via gestures.

Of course, it didn't really, though it did come relatively close considering the era and the asking price.

Now, the Power Glove may have never really worked properly, but it remains both iconic and collectible. What's more, you can grab it complete in its box via this PowerGlove (NES) auction on eBay. Its size is large, mind you.

Star Wars: TIE Fighter (PC)

Unsurpassed space fighting sim Star Wars: TIE Fighter by LucasArts was much more than an excellent game. It is actually what made the Empire sound like a plausible, logically evil state and I've always loved it for that. You can now love it too with the help of this Star Wars: TIE Fighter (PC) eBay auction.

The game comes complete in its box with 3.5" disks, manual, quick reference sheet and The Stele Chronicles book (a surprisingly enjoyable read). Seller ships only within Europe.

MB Microvision & Games

By placing the CPU and the tiny 16 by 16 pixels screen in the cartridge and not the console, Jay Smith managed to create the very first handheld gaming machine back in 1981: the Milton Bradley Microvision. Sadly the tech and cost limitations of the time meant the Microvision failed to become a success and only got 12 games released for it.

On the other hand, you can bid on eight of those game and the console (which comes with one more game, Blockbuster) to play them on via this MB Microvision eBay auction. Everything works great and comes in its original box. Baseball and Connect Four are sealed.

Seller ships only within the US.

Super Turrican 1 & 2 (SNES)

I still find the notion of playing Turrican on a console weird, but also strangely alluring. What's more, everyone keeps telling me that Super Turrican on the SNES was really good, as was its imaginatively named sequel. So, uhm, why not bid on this excellently preserved (and fully working) Super Turrican / Super Turrican 2 (SNES) cartridge on eBay?

The game is rare and for US/NTSC consoles. Seller ships to most places worldwide.

The Apple II Plus Computer System

Introduced in 1979, the Apple II Plus was very similar to the original Apple II, but came with a brand new and very powerful Applesoft BASIC in ROM and slightly enhanced graphics and disk handling capabilities. Unsurprisingly it sported the same MOS 6502 processor and was fully compatible with a huge library of games and software.

What's more, you can grab a complete, finely preserved micro via this Apple II Plus eBay auction. The computer on offer is accompanied by the Apple Disk II 5,25" drive, an Apple monitor with its stand, the Apple Joystick, one 16k expansion and a ton of manuals, disks, books and extras.

One of the rarest Sega Mega CD PAL games and a European exclusive, platformer The Smurfs by Infogrames, has gone up for auction on eBay and seems like it will command a rather hefty price. The game is in very good condition, you see, and comes complete in its jewel case with CD and manual.

One Boxed Sega Saturn

Following the failures of the Sega CD and 32X, Sega's Saturn did do relatively well, but its wonderful and over-designed self never stood a chance against the PlayStation. Yes, despite some absolutely amazing arcade conversions and even despite offering the most impressive 2D graphics of its era. It was simply too expensive.

But, let bygones be bygones and focus on this Sega Saturn eBay auction instead. It will allow you to bid on the first Saturn model complete in its box and with an extra, analog controller thrown in. The console seems to be in excellent condition and comes with controller, power-cord, A/V cord, RF unit, manual and the Virtua Cop game sampler.

WarCraft II: Tides of Darkness (PC)

WarCraft II or, more sensibly, Warcraft 2 was Blizzard's first true mega-hit and an absolutely impressive RTS that caused many a jaw to drop. The lovely cartoon-like graphics, the 3D cut-scenes, the excellent design, the scope of the story, the finely polished mechanics, the awesome units and the sheer size of the thing made sure Warcraft 2 earned its place in gaming history and thousands of game shelves all over the world.

For a chance to own the thing in its hefty big box you can bid on this WarCraft II (PC) eBay auction. The game comes complete with manual, CD, jewel case, leaflets and promo material.

Snoopy Tabletop Game & Watch

Snoopy was an impressive mini-arcade that sported an actual colour display and is nowadays a rare and highly collectible Game & Watch from Nintendo's short-lived Tabletop series. It's also a fun and highly addictive offering and one you could own via this Snoopy Tabletot Game & Watch eBay auction. The console comes in its box with instructions.

Time for some classic CRPG fun with this lovely Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn & Throne of Baal (PC) eBay auction, which will allow you to get your hands on the excellent sequel to Baldur's Gate that vastly improved upon the original and its Throne of Baal expansion -- the very last chapter to BioWare's Baldur's Gate series.

DuckTales (NES)

One of the best Disney gaming adaptations of the 8-bit era, DuckTales for the Nintendo Entertainment System remains a pretty much excellent action offering and a source of pure, justified nostalgia. Handily, a fine, fully working copy of DuckTales (NES) has been put up for auction on eBay, complete in its original box with cartridge, sleeve and manual.

Atari 2600/VCS (Woody)

It is rare to find the classic, wood-grain, four-switch Atari 2600 in nearly mint condition and even rarer to find it in an equally impressively preserved box. This Atari 2600/VCS eBay auction then should be considered pretty rare. Also, a fine chance to grab the console that admittedly started it all.

The Atari 2600 on offer comes in its original box with inserts, manual, flyers, catalogs, power adapter, RF switch-box, 2 joysticks and the paddle controllers. Everything seems to be in excellent condition, though no game carts are included.

Seller ships worldwide.

Big Box Fallout (PC)

Brilliant Interplay RPG Fallout, the post-apocalyptic offering that went on to become one of my all time favourite games, did come in an impressive big box with a folding cover before it (once again) went on to digitize itself over at GOG. Still, you can grab it in its original and highly collectible box via this Fallout (PC) eBay auction.

The box and its contents seem to be in fine condition. Said contents include the game's excellent and rather hefty manual, the CD in its jewel case, the quick reference card and a couple flyers advertising Interplay's TSR games and Earth 2140

Seller ships only to the US and Canada.

Mint Mark II Atari Lynx

The wonderful Atari Lynx you see above, a brilliantly preserved mark II console, comes complete in its box with the Batman Returns cartridge (with manual) and the console's much needed charger. You can bid on it over at this Atari Lynx eBay auction.

Might and Magic II (Amiga)

I remember thinking Might and Magic II looked absolutely stunning on the Amiga --especially when compared to the Ultimas of the era-- and though it has certainly aged, it still looks lovely. And remains a classic, combat-heavy RPG by New World Computing. Also, you could buy a complete, boxed and sealed copy of it via this Might and Magic II (Amiga) eBay auction.

Seller ships to many places worldwide.

A rather stunning Sinclair ZX81

A stunning and apparently brilliantly preserved Sinclair ZX81 in an equally fine box has been put up for sale on eBay for a price that's actually sensible. The micro has been fully tested and is working. Also very, very lovely.

Seller ships to the UK, US, Germany and a few other places.

Amstrad CPC 6128 w/ GT65 monitor

This Amstrad CPC 6128 eBay auction is particularly tempting as its shipping costs seem incredibly decent, the micro is apparently in a fine working condition, the asking price will most probably remain very reasonable and the seller is actually willing to ship throughout Europe, Northern America, Australia, Russia, Japan and a few other places, which is pretty uncommon when it comes to Amstrad's bulky bundles.

As for the lovely computer on offer, it comes with the "green" GT65 monitor and the MP-2 module that will allow you to hook it up to a TV and enjoy all of its low-res colours. It looks as lovely as all 128k CPCs do.
